SMACK is a project that aims to explore new methods of writing drama for children – in horizontal cooperation with children. The project includes a workshop and an open demo, both of which are organised in collaboration with the city of Hanko and its Skapande vecka.
Our aim is to increase the use of the children’s perspective and to utilise their open-mindedness, curiosity and creativity when writing and developing drama for children and young people. The project focuses in particular on language, with its possibilities, textures and onomatopoeia. The project explores language as an independent element, something that has intrinsic value and agency rather than being a tool.
During Hangö Teaterträff, the audience can experience a public demo created by the project’s participants. Welcome along!
SMACK is an independent continuation of Labbet’s project Futures, which took place in spring 2023 in Helsinki and Hanko.
Labbet r.f. is a non-profit organisation that has been promoting Swedish-language drama in Finland for over 20 years.
