Kaarlo Bergbom, an important figure in the Finnish theatre, says that Nummisuutarit is “without doubt the best comedy that a Finnish man has ever written.” The writer and director Juha Hurme is the undisputed ruler of Aleksis Kivi’s cultural heritage in Finland. He has, with his uncompromising aesthetics, repeatedly won the hearts of the audience. When Hurme is directing at Universum, nine actors are standing on the stage presenting a play that is both thrilling and humorous.
