Hangö Teaterträff is looking to hire a Managing Director to lead the festival together with the artistic management and the board.

The Managing Director’s role includes: 

– Budgeting, fundraising and ongoing reporting 
– Planning and implementation of projects
– Managing the festival’s production process and acting as the team’s supervisor
– Managing the administrative tasks of the organisation 
– Collaborating with the festival team in the production of festivals and performances

We are looking for a person who:

– Has solid experience in the field of arts and culture, with a particular focus on the performing arts
– Is a skilled project manager who can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, even under pressure
– Has strong financial, budgeting and administrative skills
– Has experience in both staff and operational management
– Is good at communicating and maintaining a good working environment
– Is passionate about working towards a socially and ecologically sustainable festival and performing arts field

The applicant should have a good command of one or more of the following languages: Swedish, Finnish and English. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

Working hours, location and pay

The work is a permanent position starting on 28 October 2024 or as agreed. The work is 100% in January–June and 50% in July–December (can be adjusted upwards if funding allows).

The workplace is located at The Performance Arts Centre – Eskus in Suvilahti, Helsinki, and some of the work can be done remotely. In the run-up to and during the festival in June, the workplace of the festival team will be moved to Hanko.

The full-time salary is €3,000/month. Hangö Teaterträff’s employees are compensated for using their own computer and telephone.

As Managing Director, you will work closely with the festival’s two artistic directors, communications expert, producer and technical staff. The festival team will be further expanded for the festival week with other staff members and volunteers.

Hangö Teaterträff is a non-profit organisation. Over its 30 years of existence, Hangö Teaterträff has developed into an international Finnish-Swedish festival that, by celebrating the diversity of theatre, has become a mainstay of the vitality of Finnish-Swedish theatre art. Every year, audiences, artists and festival volunteers gather in Hanko for a lively discussion about the possibilities of theatre.
