Hangö Teaterträff rf is an Apartheid Free Zone (AFZ). We are committed to the boycotts of the international BDS movement and support the Palestinian struggle for human rights, equality and freedom.
Declaring ourselves an Apartheid Free Zone allows us to take new steps towards our values. We want to play an active role in reducing racism, discrimination and oppression in the world.
We do not want to be party to actions that normalize Israel’s war crimes or the apartheid regime that maintains discrimination and oppression of Palestinians. Therefore, we will not be involved as organizers or participants in events that are supported or organized by the Israeli government, public institutions or lobby groups. We do not accept funding from such entities.
We encourage people to think more broadly about and take visible and concrete action for human rights.
By participating in the Apartheid Free Zone campaign, we support the demands of the BDS movement, which are as follows:
- Israel ends its occupation of Palestine since 1967, which has been declared illegal by international law.
- Israel recognises the fundamental rights of Palestinian citizens and treats them equally, and ends the apartheid system.
- Israel recognises the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes, as stipulated in the UN resolution.
