Is a person a spectacle, a show, if they are exhibited onstage, in a cage? In one’s role as an actor, is it possible to free oneself from both social conventions and one’s role as a human being?
One performance. 33 hours. An actor trapped naked in a cage, starting with nothing but a camping toilet, toilet paper and a microphone. An opening through which the audience can send in objects, texts, clothes, food, building materials and so on.
What will you take with you?
What kind of theatre will this be?
Will it be theatre at all?
Actor in a cage premiered at Konträr in Stockholm in April 2023 and gained both Swedish and international attention. In August 2023, it was performed again at Institutet’s festival in Vitsaniemi. Now it’s time for actor Elin Skarin to do it again for the third time, this time at Hangö Teaterträff… What will the performance become, in its third iteration?
A ticket gives you free entry to the performance on both festival days.* Bring a gift to send into the cage on each visit, it can be anything except living things. You can stay as long as you want, and return as many times as you want.
*On the night before Saturday you can follow the performance via live stream. A link will be available at the performance location.

The Administration is an independent theater group based in Stockholm, Sweden. The group consists of actors Elin Skarin, Emil Brulin and Hampus Hallberg, all of whom have worked in Sweden’s various theater institutions and independent groups for a long time. They formed the Administration in order to be able to do more of their own projects to investigate and hopefully expand theater as an art form. So far, they have made works that work in the borderland between theater and performance, always with a clear audience contact and spatial sincerity in mind, and in search between autofictional and fictional narration and representation.
