Diablada In-apropiada is a dance performance rooted in Latin American Diablada traditions and the idea of the dancing devil, a boundless masked figure. Diabladas are vibrant, irreverent celebrations that rebel against the colonial and Catholic conception of the Devil, transforming it into a symbol of cultural resilience through dance and satire.

Impropias Collective invites you on a metaphorical descent into the underworld, where artists and audience participate in a communal dance where hierarchies dissolve and playful encounters unfold. Here, the devil’s mask opens a doorway to expression and allows the reappropriation of one’s own identity. The work deals with conflicts between tradition and transformation, visibility and erasure, and evokes the timely question of who represents good and evil, and who holds the power to define them.

Impropias Collective is a Helsinki-based multidisciplinary art collective that explores Latin American identities from an embodied, situated, and feminist perspective. Through embodied knowledge, they reinterpret their cultural heritages and research dance as a social phenomena. Their practice disrupts spatial conventions, reinhabits public spaces, and fosters moments for conviviality, alterity, and celebration between diverse audiences.
