Hangö Teaterträff is looking for an intern

Hangö Teaterträff is an annual international performance art festival in Finland organised for the 30th time on 9–12 June in Hanko. It is the only festival in Finland that focuses on Swedish-language theatre. Now we are looking for an intern to join our team and participate in the production of the festival. The internship suits particularly students at the end of their studies in fields such as cultural studies or cultural production who have a particular interest in performance art and festival production.

We are looking for an intern who is capable of methodical and at times independent work. The intern’s tasks will be decided together according to the needs of the festival production and the interests of the intern, but could include tasks within:

  • The festival production such as asking for offers, business cooperation, administration
  • Coordination of areas such as accommodation, festival centre, volunteers
  • Performance production
  • Marketing and communication

We offer an internship in a small festival team that closely collaborates in order to create Hangö Teaterträff 2022. Through the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to get an overview of all the different areas of festival production and a chance to get in contact with the professional performance art field in Finland. The intern will be able to learn about festival production through practical work experience and they will have the chance to test their skills under the supervision of the festival’s managing director.

The intern will be paid according to full time pay of 1250e/month, depending on the percentage the intern will be working. If the intern can receive funding from their educational institution, it will be seen as an advantage. The internship will begin during April and the length will be approximately two months or according to mutual agreement. Our office is in Suvilahti in the performance centre Eskus, but there is a possibility of working remotely to some degree. During the festival week (6–12 June), we will be located in Hanko. Some trips to Hanko might take place before that as well.

At Hangö Teaterträff we aim to provide a safe working environment and festival that is free of all discrimination. The internal communication takes place in Finnish, Swedish, or English. We encourage people from minority backgrounds to apply for the job with a low threshold.

Please provide us with your CV and a freely formed motivation letter by 23 March to . Please add when you could start working and what your ideal percentage of employment would be. The interviews will take place during week 13 on Zoom or live at Eskus, and the decisions will be made shortly thereafter.

If you have any questions, contact managing director Inkeri Rönnberg at  or call 040 932 7155 on Friday 11 March at 10–12 or Thursday 17 March at 14–16.
